London, UK – UNIDROIT, in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), is pleased to announce an international conference on the Mining, Agricultural and Construction (MAC) Protocol and the Rail Protocol of the Cape Town Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment.

Titled “Facilitating economic growth through trade finance – a focus on the Mining, Agricultural and Construction (MAC) Protocol and the Rail Protocol,” the conference will take place on Friday, 5 September 2025, from 9:30 to 16:15 British Summer Time at the EBRD Headquarters in London.

The event will explore the practical operation of the MAC and Rail Protocols and their role in contributing to credit expansion and international trade. Discussions will also include regional perspectives from the EBRD’s areas of operation and beyond, as well as concrete steps countries can take to implement and benefit from these legal instruments.

While the conference is primarily for state delegates and government officials, a number of places are reserved for interested private sector stakeholders, legal practitioners, and academic experts. In-person participation is encouraged, though online attendance will also be possible.

The conference will be conducted in English. Coffee, tea, and lunch will be provided for in-person attendees.

Registration for the conference is open until 29 August 2025.
