Launch of the Guide on Best Practices for Electronic Business Registries

The Cape Town Convention Academic Project is pleased to announce the formal launch of the Guide on Best Practices for Electronic Business Registries to be held as a side event to the 107th UNIDROIT Governing Council session.
Building upon the success of the 2021 Guide on Electronic Collateral Registries, this new publication provides a comprehensive, practical framework for the design and operation of modern business registries. Developed by an international group of experts, the Guide identifies 24 Critical Performance Factors (CPFs) tailored to the evolving technological and legal landscape of business registries.
Date: Friday, 29 May 2026
Time: 11:15 – 12:45 CEST
Format: Hybrid (UNIDROIT Headquarters, Rome & Online)
The programme will open with institutional remarks from the CTCAP Directors and a registry perspective on the role of international guidance for digital trust by Ieva Tarailiene, followed by a contribution from the project sponsor, Aviareto (Denis Finnegan). The session will then feature an overview of the Guide’s framework and key CPFs by Kateryna Bovsunovska, concluding with reflections from project experts (Andrea August, Julian Lamb, and Justin Hygate) and an open Q&A with the audience.
This event will be followed by the launch of the “Economic Evaluation of International Commercial Law Reform: Framework and Guide”.
