Cape Town Convention Academic Project – 13th Conference

Invitation

This year’s conference will be held on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th of September 2024. It will be held in Cambridge as an in-person conference, but also with the opportunity to join virtually for anyone who is not able to attend in person.The conference will be held at Jesus College, University of Cambridge.

The conference this year will start with a keynote address on the significance of the coming into force of the Rail Protocol in March 2024, and many of the sessions will include discussion of not only the aircraft, but also the rail and MAC protocols. As usual, the programme will include contributions from leading legal academics and other Cape Town Convention experts, and the sessions will include ample opportunity for questions and debate.

Topics to be discussed include discussions of procedural law and enforcement under the CTC, comparisons of the registration requirements and the treatment of non-consensual interests under the aircraft, rail and MAC protocols, a discussion of the insolvency provisions in those three protocols and an in-depth analysis of the GOL case in the US. There will also be a discussion of financing practices in different parts of the asset finance sector and the CTC, and a session on work done on CTC issues with other international organisations.

The conference will take place in West Court, Jesus College, Cambridge, CB5 8BQ. There will be a conference dinner at Jesus College on the evening of the 11th of September. Refreshments during the two days of the conference and the conference dinner are included in the conference fee of £350 for in person attendance. There is a fee of £160 for online attendance.
