SUMMARY:Cape Town Convention Academic Project – 15th Conference
DESCRIPTION:Cape Town Convention Academic Project – 15th Conference\nInterdisciplinary conference on the Cape Town Convention and Geopolitics\non the 100th anniversary of UNIDROIT and the 25th anniversary of the Cape Town Convention\nWednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th September 2026 | Robinson College\, Cambridge\nInvitation\n  \n \nThe 15th Cape Town Convention Conference will be held on Wednesday\, 23rd and Thursday\, 24th of September 2026. It will be held at Robinson College\, Cambridge\, as an in-person conference\, but also with the opportunity to join virtually for anyone who is not able to join in person. \nThis is a special year for the Cape Town Convention and for the conference. It is the 100th anniversary of Unidroit and the 25th anniversary of the CTC. The conference will be an interdisciplinary consideration of the CTC in the light of geopolitics. As an international treaty which generates economic benefit by the legal certainty it creates\, the extent to which the operation of the CTC can be affected by the geopolitical situation is a matter of great significance\, and merits discussion by experts in many subjects and disciplines. \nThe conference will bring together experts in law\, international studies\, economics and business\, from academia\, practice and industry\, to discuss the CTC and treaty compliance in the light of international relations\, game theory\, international law\, law and economics and financial sectors that are comparable to asset finance. As usual\, there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion from the floor. \nThe conference will take place in the Crausaz Wordsworth Building\, Robinson College\, Adams Road\, Cambridge CB3 9AN. There will be a conference dinner at Selwyn College on the evening of the 23rd of September. Refreshments during the two days of the conference and the conference dinner are included in the conference fee of £350 for in-person attendance. There is a fee of £160 for online attendance. \nFees are waived for students\, academics who cannot obtain funding from their institution and government officials. If you are eligible for a fee waiver\, please use this code: CTAC2026. You will have to self-certify that you fall into the relevant category. \nBooking is available here. If you have any questions about the booking system\, please contact Mr Justin Crane (justin@thecraneevent.co.uk). \n9th Secured Transactions Coordination Conference \nImmediately before the Cape Town Convention Conference\, on Monday\, 21st and Tuesday\, 22nd of September\, Unidroit and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will co-host the 9th  Secured Transactions Coordination Conference at the EBRD Headquarters in London (an initiative undertaken by the Joint Network for Coordinating and Supporting Secured Transactions Reforms). Participants might wish to organise their travel to attend both events. Registration for the Secured Transactions Coordination Conference will open in June 2026. Any questions regarding the conference can be directed to STCC9@unidroit.org.     \nAccommodation \nEnsuite bed and breakfast accommodation in Selwyn College is available for the nights of the 22nd\, 23rd and/or 24th of September.
